5 Quick Tips When Moving House

Moving is a big job. Life is busy enough as it is and then there is packing, removalists, property inspections, decluttering and ten thousand other things to do...
So I thought it would be helpfull to ctreate a short 5 tips list with "don't forget's". Things easily overlooked but important.
1) Start early. I normally recommend starting 6 weeks before the actual moving date. Starting 6 weeks out means you keep it manageable and reduce stress. And if the move is you and your family, keeping stress down means a far more enjoyable experience for everyone.
2) Do the big things first. The things that have to happen like selecting the removalist, plan what to do with the house and the mortgage (if you are an owner), organise boxes, has notice been given to employers, schools, sporting clubs?
3) Create a plan. A plan is another very helpfull tool in keeping the job manageable. Start boxing things that are in the garage and the shed or attic. Create a chart with colour coding (green writing for kitchen, red for master bedroom, blue for kids & toys).
4) Decide early how much to do yourself. If it looks like a big job and you are a busy person, consider a packing service.
5) Take photos' of the gas & water & electricity meters the day you leave. Small thing but it resolves any disputes afterwards.
